Why are people rich?
A study, summarized by NCPA, takes on the critics of free markets, with some common sense finding. While some on the left insist that "the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer", the data indicates that the main reason some households earn more money than others - they work more.
58% of households in the lowest fifth of income had no one earning money from a job. In the highest fifth, 76% had two or more people earning money. In other words, the best way to help the poor isn't higher taxes and more welfare, but policies which create more jobs.
