Gov. Creates Pennsylvania Stimulus Oversight Board
John Micek has the list of appointees (sans the GOP caucus appointments) to Gov. Rendell's Stimulus Oversight Commission. Unfortunately, the panel includes no representation by taxpayers, with the exception of Gene Barr of the PA Chamber representing the business community - which often undermines its low tax message with a demand for corporate welfare. Everyone on the commission represents the appropriators, or the recipients, of taxpayer funding. Basically, people who spend other peoples money are being asked to oversee how they spend other peoples money.
I have previously noted I have little confidence in the oversight that would be provided by this commission - I would prefer complete public transparency in how every dollar is spend, i.e. a checkbook registers.
