The recession and the banking crisis are the same animal. The excessive deficits from the Gov't, private sector, and consumers are at their limit. Rational people don't want to keep taking on more debt when their jobs and future prosperity are threatened. They need to retrench- and that spells less consumption, which had been keeping this boat afloat.
