Bridge To Troubled Waters

Gov. Rendell is still touring the state dolling out taxpayers' money for various projects across the state totaling $642 million.

Much of the funding will assist infrastructure improvements for bridges in several counties. (Check out a recent blog post about PA's road system.)

Who knows what other projects Rendell is subsidizing--his office declined to offer information about Lehigh Valley spending. One confirmed recipient this week was ArtsQuest, which has previously received other state and federal aid for its performing arts centers.

Uncle Rendell has a rich history of spending his our money on pet projects. The question remains: is all that corporate welfare actually a bridge to economic growth for the Commonwealth?
