Federal Energy Tax Policy

This research paper from 2006 offers a good summary of current federal tax policy - taxes and tax credits - toward energy.

Things I learned reading it include:

  • There is a federal "gas guzzler" tax on vehicles than don't get good gas mileage - but SUVS, minivans, and pickup trucks are exempted.
  • By far the largest tax credit/expenditure is the alcohol fuel credit (chart on page 13)
