State Eminent Domain Report Card

One major success for individual rights in Harrisburg in recent years is Eminent Domain reform. The Castle Coalition's Report Card on Eminent Domain Reform Legislation since Kelo, released this week, gives Pennsylvania a "B" for reforms passed last year. They did lower the grade based on 7-years exemptions for Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and other areas to use eminent domain in areas already designed as "blighted" under the old definition.

The Commonwealth Foundation played an important role in advocating for eminent domain reform and educating lawmakers and the public about the issue, which led to unanimous support for these pieces of legislation.
