I would correct the Journal on just one point: when Republicans GOVERN as big government Democrats they lose. The premise of limited government must be more than just a cynical marketing ploy to elect Republicans. Republican voters expect Republican elected officials to be guided by Republican principles. To allow those officals to do otherwise is to undermine public confidence in the GOP and the conservative principles it is supposed to represent.
