Gov. Rendell: "State Workers Should Put a Statue of Me on Their Mantles"

In each of the past seven years, under the leadership of Gov. Rendell, Pennsylvania has failed to pass a state budget by the start of the fiscal year (July 1), putting state workers in the middle of the budget debate as hostage in a negotiating ploy.  Next Friday, July 17, state workers will (barring an expedited passage of the budget, which has yet to be agreed upon) forgo their paycheck.

How does Governor Rendell think state workers should feel about all of this?  He says, "they should put a statue of me on their mantle place." (HT Capitol Ideas).

WHAAAT!?  This is as stunning as finding out Bruce Willis was Ed Rendell the whole time.
