Texting While Driving: Everyone Does It, So Make it Illegal

A new study finds that 25% of individuals admit they send text messages while driving.  Astonishingly, however, 83% want to make it illegal to do so.

I am baffled by this, why would anyone want to make something they do regularly illegal?  If you think it is bad, stop doing it.  The absolute abrogation of personal responsibility, and looking for government to stop us from doing things that might harm ourselves, is mind-boggling.

Moreover, making something that a large segment of the population do regularly illegal is always troublesome - often leading to arbitrary enforcement of the law, using law enforcement as a revenue generator, and unnecessary conflict between citizens and police.
