Shining Some Light on Pennsylvania Spending
Kevin Ferris has a good piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer on proposals to create online databases of state spending in Pennsylvania, as well as the success of other states in creating spending transparency. Specifically referenced are legislation introduced in the Senate by Pat Browne and legislation proposed by Rep. Jim Christiana with bi-partisan support.
Even Gov. Rendell's spokesman, Chuck Ardo, is on board, saying "It sounds like the right thing to do." We agree:
- Open the Books on Government Spending
- Government Spending Databases are Cheap
- Open government should save taxpayers, not cost them
- Update: State Spending Transparency
