PA School Districts to Get 12% Increase in Support

Despite all the whining about budget cuts from the Rendell Administration (even though Rendell demanded there be "no whining"), Pennsylvania school districts are set to get substantially more support, when state aid - being held constant when including the state budget stabilization money from the federal stimulus - is added to the stimulus money going directly to school districts.

According to the table put together by House Republicans from PDE data, school districts will get an average 11.7% increase, with a range of 3.1% to 32.8%, under SB 850 versus last year's state aid.

Will an 11.7% increase "threaten to undermine the progress we have made in public education," as spendthrifts claim?
