Overspending Schools Don't Need More Taxpayer Funding

NYTimes article (registration required) looks at how much of the federal "stimulus" money would go to school spending, particularly for school construction.

Critics and supporters alike said that by its sheer scope, the measure could profoundly change the federal government’s role in education, which has traditionally been the responsibility of state and local government.
Yet our report, Edifice Complex, revealed that school spending has increased dramatically over the past ten years, with school construction leading the way - an increase of over 100% in the past 10 years.  Likewise, the Cato Institute weighs in on the overspending by our public schools.
