Transparency: Increase Government Efficiency for Free

The House Democratic Caucus has demonstrated fiscal responsibility by rejecting this year's COLA's. Maybe Dr. Stilp got through to them. But the bigger question is how much did Eachus turn around and spend on Sen. Casey's brother for a "top-to-bottom" review of the caucus's efficiency? Do we really need to spend money to save money?

I don't think so. Kansas put the entire state's expenditures online without spending a dime.

Putting legislative leadership expense accounts online would act as a deterrent to excessive spending and allow each citizen to see how his tax dollars are being spent in the caucuses. The assembly's reluctance to embrace transparency makes one wonder what it has to hide. . . .
