Residents Still "Movin Out" of Pennsylvania
The Census Bureau released the latest annual population estimates. The trends for Pennsylvania remain much the same:
- Pennsylvania grew by 0.2% between July 2007 and July 2008 - ranking 45th in population growth. Since 1970, Pennsylvania ranks 48th, and the state has dropped a spot - to 43rd - in population growth since Governor Rednell took office.
- Pennsylvania continues to lose residents to other states. While Pennsylvania added 22,000 residents in natural change (births minus deaths) and 15,000 immigrants, the state lost about 11,500 in net state-to-state migration. Since 2000, Pennsylvania has lost 58,000 residents to other states.
