Government Knows Best: New Mandates in Philly

Philadelphia passed a new law (HT:Grassroots) mandating Carbon Monoxide detectors in every newly constructed home. The story reminded me of Heritage's Stop the EPA campaign. Last summer the foundation headed an effort to inform the public of the devastating impact the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed regulations would have on the economy, and personal freedom.

My favorite part of the campaign was this video,
which shows regulation for "our own good" ignores the fact that a civil and wealthy society depends on personal responsibility, not government regulation.

The same goes for Greenleaf's expanded smoking ban bill and the soon to be required nutrition labels in Philly restaurants.
