Rendell orders budget cuts, hiring freeze

Following reports that tax revenue is well behind projections, Governor Rendell has announced plans to reduce state spending by $200 million, including ending (taxpayer funded) out-of-state travel by government employees a freeze on new hires for the time being. Tony Phyrillas has more details (along with an "I told you so").

As for identifying ways to cut spending, we have put together a list, well in advance of the current shortfall. Of course, lawmakers should have listened to us a few months ago, now they'll have to cancel their trip to Atlanta.

The unpopular move of the Barnes Foundation to Center City Philadelphia is where most of the 200 million is going. The Govenor would rather have another Center City Museum that no one attends rather than 5000 PA State Jobs. Governor turned art collector, Ed "Hermann Goering" Rendell, prefers fiddling around with art on the Ben Franklin Parkway like Nero while Pennsylvania is falling down around his ears. He is determined to take care of his rich Elite friends on the taxpayers' tab: Rendell owes Annenberg/Pew/Lenfest Trusts about 107 million dollars in matching funds that the now disgraced Senator Fumo promised his rich friends for The Barnes move and the Barnesgate scam and Fast Eddie is trying to deliver. Keep The Barnes In Merion. The Barnes Move is PA's Bridge to Nowhere.
