Turnpike Lease to Save Taxpayers $87 Million
As I pointed out last month the Pennsylvania Turnpike continues to receive taxpayer subsidy (even while making payments to PennDoT) to the tune of $120 million per year.
In my quick perusal of the Turnpike Lease Agreement, I find no mention of either the revenue sharing of the Oil Company Franchise Tax, or any appropriation from taxpayers. While the state will continue to pay the cost of state police on the Turnpike, the savings from the former two items will save taxpayers about $87 million annually.
