Republicans Are in Denial

Tom Coburn in the Wall Street Journal writes on how "Compassionate Conservativsm" destroyed the Republican Party, and how the GOP's problem isn't "messaging", its following through on principles.

His transition to a McCain endorsement is weak, though I assume it is tied to McCain's views on government spending and entitlements, rather than his stances on campaign finance regulation and his view that government needs to "do something" about global warming.
