Tax Freedom Day for PA is April 21

The Tax Foundation released their annual report on Tax Freedom Day today. The national Tax Freedom day will be April 23 - the number of days it takes for Americans to pay all their federal, state, and local taxes for the year.

Pennsylvania's Tax Freedom Day will be April 21 (the difference with the national date is based both on state taxes and on burder of federal taxes, which is tied to personal income and the progressive tax rate). This means Pennsylvania residents will have to work 111 days to pay their tax burden for 2008.

This year Pennyslvania ranks 18th among states (1 representing the highest taxed), an increase from 21st two years ago (i.e. a move in the wrong direction) .
