Schools get no relief on pension contributions
That's a horrible headline for the AP story in the Morning Call. Who are the "schools" anyway? It's the taxpayers who get no relief.
While the pension contribution at the local district level drops in the next couple of years, taxpayers should get ready for a major spike in school taxes in 2012 ... but wait, you say, wasn't Act 1 of 2006 supposed to give taxpayers control of school tax increases? Oh, we remind you once again, pension contributions were one of the many things exempt from the limits. So you better start saving your tax dollars!
And remember, its not schools or local governments that pay these taxes, citizens do. And merely shifting them to "the state" just picks a different pocket of the same taxpayers.
