Turnpike Chief says FHWA has approved I-80 tolling

Toll Roads News reports that PA Turnpike CEO Joe Brimmeier has been saying, while at a conference in Vienna, that the FHWA has approved I-80 tolling.

We find that unlikely - not that Brimmeier said it, as he has been known to stretch the truth - but that the FHWA has approved the tolling. First, Pennsylvania hasn't even filed the full application yet. Second, as Toll Roads News points out, FWHA doesn't have final authority, but Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters does.
