Legislation on building wind farms encouraged

Patriot News Article on the debate over wind as a viable energy alternative. The headline is somewhat misleading, as the primary focus is on groups "encouraging" legislation that would discourage wind farms, though also discussing PennFuture, which supports more state stubsidy of wind farms. I also like this quote, from the PLS summary of the press conference.

Mike Jackson of the group Save Our Allegheny Ridges (SOAR), talked about the importance of Evitt’s Mountain to Bedford’s landscape and how it may fall victim to two separate windmill construction projects. The projects “will destroy the natural and scenic assets that define our communities”, said Jackson. He opined that wind energy is a façade for industry to receive more of the taxpayer’s money and that “the only thing green about wind in PA is the taxpayer’s money that subsidizes it.”

I would be remiss if I failed to point out that PennFuture is one group taking our "green" - receiving about $1 million from taxpayers to a) promote wind farms and b) to lobby state government.
