Public vs. Private: Rebuilding New Orleans
USA Today article on the rebuilding in New Orleans - noting that rebuilding efforts funding by private entrepreneurs and philanthropists are done faster and better than anything funded by the government.
Lawrence Kudlow notes that the federal government alone has spent $127 billion in aid to the Gulf Coast Region - the equivalent of $425,000 per resident of New Orleans. Kudlow thinks that is a a lot of money to accomplish very little, and makes the obvious observation that simply giving every New Orleans resident $425,000 would do a lot more for "rebuilding".
