Bogus reform prevails

Brad Bumsted in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes about "the much-bullayhooed effort in the General Assembly to strengthen the state's infamously weak Right to Know Law." Guess what? It's gone nowhere, despite all the promises.

Furthermore, Bumsted notes how that without a stronger Sunshine Law -- whereby meetings of public officials are open to the public -- the back room deals will continue.

His conclusion? "Some legislative leaders and many lawmakers want to outlast the reformers." Only time and actions (or lack thereof) will tell.
