Public Schools Respond to School Choice
Post Gazette story on Regional Choice Initiative in Beaver County. This would allow students who want a particular class, not offered by their district, to enroll in that class in another district in the county.
The adminstrators behind this plan are attempting add more academic offering to compete with cyber schools and charter schools; not calling for the state to shut them down to avoid competition (though one superintendent does take a potshot at charter schools).
This is how school choice improves public education - including public schools - when it is allowed to flourish.
