Pittsburgh schools drop 'public' from name to boost image

Oddity on the education front - since "public" schools carry a negative connotation the Pittsburgh Public Schools will now be known simply as the Pittsburgh Schools. We think focusing on the quality of instruction would be much more effective at improving their reputation.

That is an interesting view, but more than interesting, terrifying. I think it is a shame that we have come to the point that we have to change our name to put off a better image. I applaud the district for wnat ing to focus on the quality of education, but if they had done that in the ifrst place they d=could have been proud of the "public"education they are providing the students.
