Size of staff salaries surprise, but disclosing them is the important thing

Morning Call editorial on the legislative staff salaries...

The question isn't so much whether these staffers earn their pay as it
is who decides, and what the decisions are based upon. Some of these public
servants are highly experienced and long-serving, so they deserve to be properly
compensated.

But, that begs another question: Does the General Assembly need roughly
14 staffers for every elected stated representative and senator? As Matthew
Brouillette, president of the conservative Commonwealth Foundation asks, ''Do we
have too much government, or just the right amount?''
