School Spending Data
The NCES released a report today titled An Historical Overview of Revenues and Expenditures for Public Elementary and Secondary Education, by State: Fiscal Years 1990–2002.
The full report is 641 pages, with many tables, so let me summarize it: We increased public school spending by a lot; after adjusting for inflation, in per-pupil terms, in all categories of spending (though construction grew fastest), from federal, state, and local taxes--you name it, it increased.
