Many Kids Still Left Behind

A report released today by the Fordham Foundation takes a look at how well states are doing in terms of educating low-income and minority students. Pennsylvania gets pretty poor marks on all three of their measures (as do most states):

  • A "D" on Student Achievment, ranking 27th, slightly below the national average (the highest scoring state, Virigina, earned a "D+")
  • "Limited Progress" on Achievement Trends (8 states made "moderate progress")
  • A "C-" on education reform, ranking 23rd, slightly above the national average (Arizona earned a "B-")
