Veon draws cheers, but not for his travel

Ruth Ann Dailey column in today's Post-Gazette on pork, legislator travel and perks, and open records.

Think-tanks and reform groups such as the Commonwealth Foundation, Common Cause and Democracy Rising have called for tighter rules to prevent such abuse of the state constitution, but very tight rules do exist, those that prevent reporters and other interested parties from obtaining the squalid details of our legislators' profligate ways (emphasis added).
