Say it isn't so...our government is spying on us?

Are we really surprised that our government could possibly be monitoring us? After all, it is the natural course of governments that enjoy virtually unlimited power. (Need I even begin to list the blatant violations of our Constitution? Politicians threw off the chains of our Constitution years ago.)

Does anyone else find Trent Lott's comment troubling? "I want my security first. I'll deal with all the details after that."

I'm reminded of Benjamin Franklin's warning that "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."
